Nobody could stop the Bakó/Vasas mixed doubles at the $100,000 Teqball World Series tournament in Krakow.
25 people competed in the mixed doubles category in Krakow, which was divided into 8 groups.
Ádám Bakó and Lea Vasas confidently won their group, then saw off the Kota/Szeged pair in the quarter-finals.
The 2019 world champion Brazilian pair Marcos Vieira / Natalia Guitler followed in the semi-finals. Bakó and Vasas did not spare the opponent here either. They triumphed in the ratio 12:8 12:5.
Thus, just like in Márosvásárhely and Naples, the Bányik/Janicsek vs. Bakó/Vasas final, which is almost a prestigious match, took place, which was held on the main square of Maly Rynek in Krakow.
In front of a full house, the sides started the match live on Eurosport, where both couples proved why they belong to the world's elite. The Bakó/Vasas duo won the first set 11:9, then won the second set 12:9, creating the final result of 2:0, with which our team could stand on the top step of the podium.
You don't have to wait long for the second leg, as the 1st round of the Hungarian World Championship qualifier will be held on September 24-25.
They also excelled in the men's doubles category.
Our pair Bakó/Blázsovics found themselves in an extremely difficult branch after they easily won their group.
In the quarter-finals, they received the 3rd-ranked French pair Grondin/Rabeux, who they beat 2:1 in a huge match, and then in the semi-finals, the Serbians, the world champions and leaders in the world rankings, followed.
The match of the tournament title was clearly won by Bakó/Blázsovics vs Mitro/Marojevic. You could gasp for breath amid the more incredible ball runs. In the end, they managed to defeat the Serbians in the ratio of 5:12, 12:8, 12:10, thus reaching the final.
In the sold-out finals, the Katz/Bányik couple finally managed to beat our couple, so we could be happy with the silver medal.
Our pair Odnoga/Forgács received the Serbian pair when reaching the top 8, where our team unfortunately came up short after a great match.
Our duo Odnoga/Vicsek saw off their Polish opponent in the group with confidence, and then lost in a heated battle against the Serbian duo Mitro/Umicevic.
Our pair Fodor/Marosvári participated in their first competition, where they lost 2:1 against their Polish opponents in a close match, so they failed to advance to the KO round.
Our Fodor/Vádász mixed doubles were also able to participate in their first Teqball competition, where they managed to win 2 times, and finally the Czech doubles managed to catch them in a close match.
We were also represented in men's singles, where Bence Forgács unfortunately lost in a big match against the later silver medalist Julien Grondin of France, while Ádám Marosvári, after beating his Kuwaiti opponent, was bid farewell by the Brazilian legend Marcos Vieira.
In women's doubles, Péchy was represented with Zsófia Petra Dezsényi on her side. Their race was ended by the eventual winner and reigning world champion Brazil's Guitler/Fontes.
Petra Péchy, Nóra Vicsek, Rebeka Godó and Bianka Vadász represented our association in the women's individual.
Péchy lost the match 11:11 in the final set, while Vicsek lost 2:1 to eventual winner Krisztina Ács. Rebeka Godó lost in an amazingly close match against Serbian Maja Umicevic, while Vadász was also outmatched by her Polish and Czech opponent in a one-and-one match.
A busy calendar awaits our players.
We will be at the BOK hall on 09.24-25 at the World Championship Qualifier, and on 09.29-10.02 at the European Tour in Budapest at the Riz Levente sports hall.
